Celebrate Summer in Downtown
Join Us for the Next Rock the Block!

Summer isn’t summer in Downtown White Plains without Rock the Block!
There are still two concerts left in this year’s series, and we can’t wait to welcome the community back for another evening of live music, outdoor dining, and summer fun.
Rock the Block returns on Wednesday, July 15, from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM, bringing live entertainment and great energy to the heart of Downtown White Plains.
During the event, Mamaroneck Avenue (between Maple Avenue and East Post Road) will be closed to traffic, creating a pedestrian-friendly StrEATery where you can enjoy outdoor patio dining, live music, yard games, mini golf, and more.
This month’s lineup is packed with funky, fresh, and soulful sounds. Headlining the evening is Slap Dragon, a Nashville-based band blending bluegrass, funk, disco, and R&B. Opening the night is Rae the Band, whose soulful mix of ’60s soul, electric blues, and classic rock is sure to get the crowd moving.
And if you needed one more reason to stop by, our World Cup-themed photo op is back! Snap a photo in front of a backdrop of international flags and strike your best champion pose with our replica World Cup trophy.
Special thanks to participating restaurants: Brazen Fox, Cantina, Delicias, Freebird, Hudson Grille, Lazy Boy Saloon, Lilly’s, Ron Blacks, and Sundance Kitchen.
Thanks to our presenting sponsor White Plains Hospital, and our additional supporters, Westchester County, Bruni & Campisi, SRG2 Partners LLC., Cappelli Organization, LANline Communications, Orange Bank & Trust Company, Platinum GMC of White Plains, Partyline, and Smash Music. Special thanks to New York Power Authority (NYPA), our community partner. Their collective commitment and partnership make Rock the Block possible.

Celebrate the 250th Anniversary of Independence
This year marks the 250th anniversary of the United States, and Downtown White Plains has a unique reason to celebrate.
Did you know that on July 11, 1776, the Declaration of Independence was publicly read in White Plains for the very first time in New York? The historic reading took place on the steps of the old Westchester County Courthouse, now known as Armory Plaza. Today, the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Monument at Armory Plaza commemorates this important moment in New York’s history.
To honor this milestone, the White Plains Historical Society and community partners will host a day of festivities on July 12, celebrating both our country’s 250th anniversary and White Plains’ important place in American history.
The celebration begins at 11:30 a.m. with a parade from Renaissance Plaza to the American Legion Post, followed by a reenactment of the first public reading of the Declaration of Independence and a wreath-laying ceremony at the DAR Monument in Armory Plaza.
The festivities continue from 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Tibbits Park, where visitors can step back in time with a Colonial Village Experience featuring interactive demonstrations and historical activities for all ages.
Come celebrate 250 years of American history while discovering the remarkable role Downtown White Plains played in the nation’s founding.

Huntington Learning Center Opens at 170 Hamilton Avenue
We are delighted to learn that Huntington Learning Center has opened its doors to White Plains residents and beyond with their new Westchester County location at 170 Hamilton Avenue, White Plains.
The center is under the leadership of Rosey Sopariwala, a former Huntington student, entrepreneur, and educator who is bringing her passion for learning and community impact to families across Westchester County.
Her vision for the White Plains center extends far beyond tutoring and test preparation. Sopariwala hopes the center will become a trusted academic resource for families throughout the community.
“In the short term, our goal is to establish Huntington White Plains as a place parents can turn to when their child needs extra support,” she said. “Whether that means strengthening foundational skills, preparing for important exams, or developing better study habits, we want families to know we are here to help.”
Long term, Sopariwala hopes the center becomes deeply integrated into the community by partnering with local schools, PTAs, and organizations to support student success. Through their individualized K-12 tutoring and test prep programs, Huntington’s highly qualified teachers can focus their one-on-one tutoring sessions on the areas a student needs the most.
With convient and flexible scheduling to meet any busy parent’s schedules, the center offers in-person, online or combined tutoring options which means your student can have the personalized attention they need in a learning format and experience that fits their after-school or sport schedules.
