Could Walter Warrington ever have envisioned that his humble hot dogs, split and griddled and served from a charming pagoda-style building, would one day be served to celebrities, sold in retail stores and obsessed over by generations of fans? From his start in 1919 with a modest spot on Boston Post Road, Warrington, and eventually three generations of his family built Walter’s Hot Dogs into a brand recognizable far beyond its Mamaroneck roots. Few Westchester businesses can claim more than a century of continuous operation, and Walter’s, whose core product still remains a hot dog, has been a mainstay for 103 years, with the latest generation of Warringtons at the helm.
