World Cup Meets Downtown White Plains

June in Downtown White Plains

This summer is shaping up to be one of the most exciting yet in Downtown White Plains!

With Rock the Block concerts and White Plains Soccerfest watch parties bringing live music, entertainment, and community celebrations to Mamaroneck Avenue, there is something happening almost every other week.

Here’s what’s happening in June:

WP Soccerfest Block Party | June 14 | 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM

Rock the Block | June 17 | 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM

WP Soccerfest Block Party | June 27 | 1:00 PM to 1:00 AM

All events will take place on Mamaroneck Avenue between Maple Avenue and East Post Road.

Rock the Block

The next installment of Rock the Block returns on June 17 from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM, bringing live music and summer energy to the heart of Downtown White Plains.

This month’s concert takes place during the first week of the FIFA World Cup festivities, making it the perfect way to keep the celebration going.

With World Cup matches taking place throughout the day, we encourage you to wear your team’s colors, catch the games at your favorite downtown bars and restaurants, and then join us on Mamaroneck Avenue (between Maple Ave & E Post Rd) for Rock the Block!

Headlining the evening is Spanglish Fly, a band known for reviving the bugaloo sound that emerged from Spanish Harlem in the 1960s, blending Latin rhythms with soul and R&B influences. NPR has called them the new kings of bugaloo.

Also performing is Olivia K & the Parkers, a Brooklyn-based band whose Tiny Desk Concert submission ranked among the competition’s Top 50 entries. Downtown White Plains is proud to be one of its stops on the band’s first-ever tour.

Special thanks to participating restaurants: Brazen Fox, Cantina, Freebird, Hudson Grille, Lazy Boy Saloon, Lilly’s, Ron Blacks, and Sundance Kitchen.

Thanks to our presenting sponsor White Plains Hospital, and our additional supporters, Westchester County, Bruni & Campisi, SRG2 Partners LLC., Cappelli Organization, LANline Communications, Orange Bank & Trust Company, Platinum GMC of White Plains, Partyline, and Smash Music. Special thanks to New York Power Authority (NYPA), our community partner. Their collective commitment and partnership make Rock the Block possible.

Guests can enjoy activities such as human foosball, soccer demonstrations, face painting, and more. Plenty of seating will be available, though bringing your own chair is encouraged.

A New Anchor for Growth: 360 Hamilton Avenue Will Energize the Downtown White Plains BID

During a recent tour of the ground-floor facilities, renowned developers Ric Clark and Dennis Friedrich of TKF Burnside Real Estate Partners, along with Brian Carcaterra of the Newmark Group, shared their vision for transforming the property into a smart, dynamic destination. Recently acquired by TKF Burnside, the building is poised to become a state-of-the-art anchor for the Downtown White Plains Business Improvement District and the broader community.

Currently, 360 Hamilton Avenue stands as a Class A commercial building, home to major tenants such as Heineken USA, Merrill Lynch, and Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, among other international firms. But its next chapter promises to be even more impactful. Within the next year, the building will evolve into a multifaceted community asset. TKF Burnside’s vision extends beyond traditional office use, reimagining the property as an integrated hub for both business and community life. Planned upgrades include a 140-person auditorium, modern conference rooms, outdoor event space, and a street-level lobby and promenade café/bar – creating a flexible environment capable of hosting a wide range of activities.

This transformation will bring meaningful benefits to the BID. Most notably, 360 Hamilton will offer a versatile indoor-outdoor venue for programming, supporting events such as business roundtables, lectures, temporary exhibits, and educational trainings. These activities can naturally connect with and amplify the offerings of nearby restaurants, retailers, hotels, colleges, and professional services throughout the District. In addition, enhancements to the building’s entrance and lobby will help activate the surrounding streetscape, creating a vibrant, cosmopolitan destination for residents and the local workforce alike.

Clark and Friedrich also view the reinvention of 360 Hamilton as part of a broader wave of development along the corridor, including projects like District Galleria, which will introduce new residential, retail, and public spaces. Together, these efforts will generate a powerful sense of synergy—further strengthening White Plains’ position as a premier inner-suburban market for individuals, families, and businesses.

What is a Business Improvement District?

And Why Have One?

A Business Improvement District (BID) is a defined area within a city where businesses agree to pay an additional tax or fee to fund improvements and services that enhance the local commercial environment.

BIDs are usually established by local governments in partnership with property owners and business stakeholders.

Ultimately, the purpose of a BID is to enhance the economic vitality, safety, and attractiveness of a commercial district, benefiting both businesses and the surrounding community.
