Downtown White Plains Rocks the Block Once Again!

Thank you to everyone who joined us on Wednesday, June 17, for another unforgettable Rock the Block in Downtown White Plains!

The evening opened with Olivia K & The Parkers, whose powerhouse vocals and funky rhythms got the crowd moving. Later, Spanglish Fly brought Latin soul and boogaloo to the stage, inviting everyone to clap, dance, and sing along.

The recent excitement of the NBA Finals could be felt throughout the night, with both bands giving shout-outs to the New York Knicks through crowd-favorite chants and playful musical tributes.

Beyond the music, families enjoyed yard games, arts and crafts, and opportunities to connect with community partners and sponsors. A highlight was the World Cup Photo Op Station, where visitors of all ages posed with a replica World Cup trophy. The photo station will return at our next Rock the Block event!

This month’s event showed how music, sports, and cultural celebrations bring people together. Whether you came for the live performances, family activities, or a summer evening downtown, thank you for helping make Rock the Block special.

We’ll see you at the next Rock the Block on July 15!

Special thanks to participating restaurants: Brazen Fox, Cantina, Delicias, Freebird, Hudson Grille, Lazy Boy Saloon, Lilly’s, Ron Blacks, and Sundance Kitchen.

Thanks to our presenting sponsor White Plains Hospital, and our additional supporters, Westchester County, Bruni & Campisi, SRG2 Partners LLC., Cappelli Organization, LANline Communications, Orange Bank & Trust Company, Platinum GMC of White Plains, Partyline, and Smash Music. Special thanks to New York Power Authority (NYPA), our community partner. Their collective commitment and partnership make Rock the Block possible.

And Why Have One?

Our Executive Director recently wrote an article on the importance of Business Improvement Districts! Read a snippet of his article:

A Business Improvement District (BID) is a defined area within a city where businesses agree to pay an additional tax or fee to fund improvements and services that enhance the local commercial environment.

BIDs are usually established by local governments in partnership with property owners and business stakeholders.

Ultimately, the purpose of a BID is to enhance the economic vitality, safety, and attractiveness of a commercial district, benefiting both businesses and the surrounding community.
