Annual Meeting of the Membership

Yesterday, we held our Annual Meeting of the Membership! This once-a-year gathering brings together downtown business and property owners, elected officials, White Plains and Westchester County government, real estate professionals and civic groups to review our nonprofit’s programming, activities, and accomplishments from 2024. We also held elections for our volunteer board leadership and presented our recently audited financial statements.

A big thank you to Justin Driscoll, President and CEO of the New York Power Authority (NYPA), Mayor Thomas Roach, and County Executive Ken Jenkins for delivering remarks to our audience!

We’re especially grateful to NYPA for hosting us in their Jaguar Room and to our very own Downtown White Plains BID business, Iron Tomato, for catering the event!

Our Year-End Annual Report, presented at the meeting, is now available online! You can check it out here.

NYPA Unveils New EV Chargers on Chester/Maple Lot

Our Executive Director, Jennifer Furioli was pleased to join New York Power Authority CEO Justin Driscoll, County Executive Ken Jenkins, Mayor Thomas Roach and several White Plains Common Council members at the ribbon cutting to celebrate the installation of six new EVolve NY fast chargers for electric vehicles.

These chargers, conveniently positioned at the municipal Chester-Maple parking garage, will be able to charge electric vehicles in approximately 20 minutes, nearly half the time it typically takes to charge an electric vehicle.

A boon to EV owners, these chargers are conveniently located just a block away from dozens of restaurants, coffee shops and stores, making a the stop even more convenient for motorists.

Now, White Plains residents, shoppers and employees who need to charge their vehicle, have more and faster options at their fingertips downtown, while travelers unfamiliar with White Plains have an extra incentive to discover all we have to offer in proximity to these chargers when they stop to top up their batteries.

Destination charging, that is—motorists visiting and discovering new locations specifically to charge their EV batteries—is becoming more of a common occurrence, and we look forward to welcoming these new customers into our downtown!

To learn more about the new EV chargers and NYPA’s plans to have 400 of the Evolve NY Fast chargers in operation by early next year, check out this Westfair Article here.
