Get ready to rock out at Rock The Block’s eagerly awaited second concert!
What’s Rock the Block? It’s Downtown White Plains’ biggest summer bash, shaking things up every second Wednesday from May through August!
On June 12th, we’re shutting down Mamaroneck Avenue between Maple Ave and E. Post to transform it into a wonderland of eats, beats, and fun! Picture this: a sea of picnic tables serving mouthwatering dishes from your favorite downtown spots, live music from stellar bands, and games galore (think corn hole, badminton, ping pong, and more!).
This second concert promises to be even more epic than the first! This month’s theme? COUNTRY! Expect hay bales, line dancing, horseshoe tosses, and even fishing!
Leading the charge is our headliner, Sarah Shook and the Disarmers! Shook, an American country singer-songwriter, brings a unique blend of Country Punk and Country Rock to the stage, promising a performance you won’t forget. And don’t miss our opener, Andrew Weiss and Friends, masters of anthemic road rock, booming pop, and poetic Americana. Seriously, you don’t want to miss this!
Just like last time, the Westchester Arts Mobile will be there with fun crafts for kids (and adults, if you’re feeling crafty!). For those 21 and over, enjoy free margarita samples from our sponsor, Teremana Tequila, at Sundance Kitchen!
To make the Block even more spectacular, we’ve added the ARTSALIVE Acoustic Zone, where Christine Chanel will serenade you at the end of the block near Sundance. Picture yourself in a lawn chair with a margarita, soaking up the tunes!
Rock the Block is perfect for an after-work hangout with colleagues, a downtown dining adventure with friends, or a fun-filled evening with family. Join us this season as we make downtown rock! Shows and Events
In February, the City of White Plains was awarded a $10 million dollar downtown revitalization initiative “DRI” grant. Now, local downtown businesses, property owners, and members of the public are invited to learn more about the grant and funding opportunities to benefit downtown.
For Businesses: Tomorrow at 3 p.m. (Tuesday June 4th), the City is hosting an informational session for local downtown businesses at City Hall (see flyer). All downtown businesses are encouraged to attend (please help us spread the word by telling your neighboring businesses as well). Local downtown businesses are also encouraged to fill out the following business survey, which will help refine DRI funding objectives.
For the Public: Your feedback on downtown White Plains is requested and appreciated as part of this process. Several public forums have been scheduled (6/10, 6/11, 6/12) this month to solicit stakeholder feedback on the current state of Downtown White Plains and what DRI priorities should be.
