Get ready to groove at Rock The Block’s highly anticipated first concert!
What’s Rock the Block? It’s four Wednesdays (the second Wednesday of each month, starting THIS Wednesday, May 8th), where we close the block of Mamaroneck Avenue to vehicle traffic between Maple Ave and E. Post and transform it into an oasis of eats, music, and fun! Imagine: a sea of picnic tables serving up eats from your favorite restaurants in downtown’s restaurant row, live music from great bands ranging from Latin to Rock, Soul and Alternative Country, and fun and games for all ages (think: corn hole, badminton, ping pong and more!).
In homage to Cinco de Mayo, we’re bringing a Latin beat to the street at our first concert THIS WEDNESDAY, May 8th. Enjoy the sensational sounds of Salcedo’s Latin Soul – a dynamic band that epitomizes the vibrant multicultural essence of New York City, blending Salsa, Bomba, Timba, Funk, Rock, and Hip Hop into an electrifying performance. We couldn’t celebrate Cinco de Mayo without our hometown Mariachi celebrities, the White Plains High School’s Mariachi Band, also known as Mariachi Juvenil los Tigres, who will open the concert. Westchester Arts Mobile will be there with a handmade maraca craft for kids (or adults if you feel so inclined!), and for those 21 and over, don’t miss free margarita samplings from our sponsor, Teremana Tequila. And, we’re not only going to Rock the Block on Wednesday, we are going to “Guac” the Block, too: don’t miss our free guacamole giveaway.
Other concerts this season include Sarah Shook and the Disarmers, opened by Andrew Weiss and Friends (June 12th), Scott Tournet and the Spark, opened by Smooch (July 10th), and our final concert will be headlined by OTM (August 14th)!
Participating restaurants with street dining during concert hours include: Brazen Fox, Cantina, Freebird Kitchen, Hudson Grille, Lazy Boy Saloon, Lilly’s, Ron Blacks, and Sundance Kitchen!
