Our organization undertakes a number of activities to promote downtown White Plains and its businesses.
Special Events
We produce a number of high-quality events that enliven our streetscape and bring customers across the threshold of our many businesses over the course of the year. From Rock the Block, a multi-Wednesday concert in the summer that highlighted numerous restaurants and their outdoor dining with the backdrop of live local music, to White Plains Wing Walk, which encourages patrons to step into 20 or more businesses to sample unique wing flavors, our events put our businesses front and center of the consumer experience in an engaging way.

Business Marketing Campaigns
We create a variety of themed marketing promotions designed to bring awareness of our local customer-facing businesses. Small Business Saturday, a social media campaign right after Thanksgiving and Black Friday, provides free surprise customer giveaways and plenty of social media attention for many of our most treasured independent small downtown gems. Restaurant Month highlights the unique culinary adventures that await in our thriving restaurant sector, with special pre-fixe pricing and special deals available during the month of January. March into Self Care brings to light our thriving wellness, beauty, fitness and medical establishments through a month-long social media campaign complete with special customer discounts.

Business Openings and Business Directory
When new businesses open in our Business Improvement District boundaries, we roll out the welcome wagon offering new BID businesses our help in coordinating a kick-off ribbon cutting—we provide the big scissors, a ribbon, advice on local guest list and outreach to the press—plus plenty of social media coverage to promote the celebration and new arrival to the public.
We also ensure that all of our businesses stay front of mind and up for customer consideration by maintaining a local business directory on our website and occasionally publishing hard copies of select business guides for distribution to hotels and local apartment buildings/office buildings.
Social Media and Influencer Relations
We run robust Instagram and Facebook accounts with the sole purpose of promoting our downtown district and the businesses within. On any given day you may find our social media team doing an insider’s reel on a soon-to-open downtown business, showing off the many delicious slices available for purchase downtown on National Pizza Day, or presenting one of our community favorites – “Win It Wednesday” – where we gift a lucky follower with a free experience or voucher to one of our many quality establishments. Our organization also regularly and consistently retweets and shares posts from our local businesses, further magnifying their reach and followers organically.
We also partner with local influencers to feature our businesses on their own accounts. Examples include our partnership with Snacktime TV, which added some additional spice to our White Plains Wing Walk promos by highlighting our many wing flavors, and working with 914PopUps to coordinate an “Influencer Stroll” through a variety of our hospitality businesses. Press Outreach and Bi-weekly E-Newsletter and E-Blasts
Our bi-weekly e-newsletter, Discover White Plains, features events, promotions, and activities hosted by local merchants, entertainment venues, and not-for-profit organizations in the area, and is a hyper-local resource for members of the community looking for something to do weekly.
