Work on Broadstone apartment towers in White Plains to begin in fall

Lohud, Richard Liebson, August 2, 2018

The roar of jackhammers, rumble of heavy trucks and clanging of hammers on steel will soon become familiar at the city's keystone corner as work is about to begin on an apartment complex that will change the face of Mamaroneck Avenue and East Post Road.

The mixed-use "Broadstone" development includes two 15-story luxury apartment towers and one six-floor building, retail space, six levels of parking and a small public park.

"We anticipate starting demolition work in the fall," Greg Belew, city president for Lennar Multifamily Communities told The Journal News/Lohud on Monday. "It's an exciting project and we look forward to getting started."

Approved by the Common Council in September 2017, the project will dwarf the two- and three story buildings that line Mamaroaneck Avenue and East Post Road. The complex will also have a front on Mitchell Place.

"Right from the beginning, we thought this project would be of great benefit to the city," Mayor Tom Roach said Wednesday. "It will bring more people downtown to support the retail and service businesses in that area, and it will improve walkability."
