It’s time to start planning for the Rising Star Sidewalk Sales. The White Plains Business Improvement District is hoping that your business will participate in this traditional favorite. The sidewalk sale allows you to showcase your products and services to all City visitors and residents.

All of these events attract residents and workers in White Plains as well as attract people shopping and dining on the weekends.

Saturday, June 12 from 10 am to 5 pm
(same day as the Juneteenth Parade)

Saturday, July 17 from 10 am to 5 pm
(same day as the White Plains Clean & Green event)

Wednesday, July 21 - Sunday, July 25 from 10 am to 5 pm

(July 25 is same day as the CityFest event)

Wednesday, Sept. 8 - Sunday, Sept. 12 from 10 am to 5 pm
(Sept. 12 is also A Taste of White Plains event)

Sunday, Oct 10 from 10 am to 5 pm
(same day as the OktoberFest event)

With so much extra foot-traffic in town, it just seems like a natural to combine Sidewalk Sales with a parade. The BID encourages you to take advantage of this unique promotional opportunity to reach new customers from all over Westchester County and southern Connecticut.

If you are interested in participating in the BID’s Rising Star Sidewalk Sale, please complete the attached form and mail or fax it back to the office (914) 328-5168. We must have a registration form from your store. There is no cost to participate. The BID will obtain FREE permits from the City of White Plains.

Please contact Doris Mady at the BID office at (914) 328-5167 with any questions that you may have. I look forward to working with you on making the BID’S Rising Star Sidewalk Sale a great success.

Manny Polloni of American Terrain

Manny has been in business for 25 years and a firm believer in sidewalk sales.

To those who say they have nothing to sell Manny says, "Every retailer has something to sell. Something that may not have gone over earlier but will at a discount...seasonal merchandise or a slow-mover. And people are always looking for bargains, especially in these economic times "

Case in point: This May's Sidewalk Sales had cooler than normal temperatures yet became a great time to pick up discounted winter jackets at American Terrain. (His staff was so with busy they elected not to take lunch!)

"Whether its out-of season or a slow-mover Sidewalk Sales create cash flow, bring new customers to your business and free up space to stock new items. Speaking of FREE, sidewalk sales don't cost anything to participate in! And there's no better way to advertise your business for FREE... especially when people ar cutting their advertising budgets".

Manny believes that a business must "impact" the street. A table isn't enough, large amounts of merchandise force people to look at what you have...rather than walk around it.
