Developer of former Westchester Pavilion site returns with new plans

A dirt hole the size of a city block in downtown White Plains where the Westchester Pavilion once stood, may be a bit closer to actually seeing residential towers rise.

Representatives from a development team led by Lennar Multifamily Communities presented conceptual plans July 30 to the city’s Common Council for the former Westchester Pavilion site. Lennar Multifamily is the apartment-focused subsidiary of Lennar Corp., the country’s largest homebuilder.

White Plains Mall redevelopment efforts take step forward with zoning approval

Plans to tear down White Plains Mall and replace it with mixed-use apartment towers and an open central “Hamilton Green” took a step forward July 2.

The White Plains Common Council approved a necessary zoning amendment to allow for the project and opened review on the development’s next required municipal approval, its site plan.

White Plains Begins Red Light Safety Camera Program

The City of White Plains Red Light Safety Camera program will begin taking photos of red light runners at designated intersections beginning July 3.

Cameras will capture still images and video of red-light running violations. This is a public safety program, and the city's goal is to deter red light runners and prevent collisions resulting from these violations.

White Plains Mall redevelopment proposal adds coworking space

The Hamilton Green proposal that would demolish the White Plains Mall and replace it with apartments, a food hall and an open public area will also have some space for freelancers, small businesses and anyone else in need of a place to work.

As the project enters the next stage of its review by the city, Hamilton Green’s development team noted that the plans will include 27,000 square feet of co-working space.

Bike sharing comes to White Plains

It's fun, it's cheap, it's convenient and it's good for you and the environment.

"Dockless bike sharing has come to White Plains," Mayor Tom Roach said Monday at a news conference to welcome two bike sharing companies that are putting out 300 two-wheelers on city streets. The cost is $1 a ride.

White Plains Bike Share Launch Monday, June 4th

White Plains Mayor Tom Roach will launch White Plains’ dockless bike share program on Monday, June 4 at 12 pm in Renaissance Plaza on Main Street in downtown White Plains. Joining the Mayor will be representatives from White Plains’ two dockless bike share operators: ofo and Lime.

The public will have a chance to view the bicycles firsthand, find out how to use them, and talk directly to the operators.

New Mural Unveiled on Mamaroneck Avenue

The White Plains BID collaborated with ArtsWestchester, Kite Realty Group, and the City of White Plains to bring public art to the streets of downtown White Plains. Artist Wane One was commissioned to paint a mural in the valet lane of City Center, outside of ArtsWestchester's building at 31 Mamaroneck Avenue. The mural was unveiled on Monday, May 14 at 11am.
